Kier Highways Solutions specialises in road surface treatments that extend the life of UK roads.

With a bituminous materials production facility, in-house traffic management design and delivery, surface treatment installation and a strong fleet of specialist vehicles – we are a known distributor and strategic partner to organisations across the UK.

Our multi-disciplined teams have varied and extensive knowledge to best advise our local authority and strategic road network clients.

Our services include the end-to-end delivery of large surface treatment schemes including surface dressing, encapsulation treatment and micro asphalt - and extends to minor defect repairs, including carriageway reinstatements, carriageway patching and preventative pothole repairs.

Surface treatment methods are known to increase the life of roads by up to 15 years and play a key part in any long-term asset management strategy - with sustainability and cost-efficiency in mind.

We also have established relationships with industry partners to project manage and trial alternative methods.

Our state-of-the-art bituminous materials production facility

Wymondham Plant in Norfolk is our bituminous materials production facility with nearly 100 years of history.

On this seven acre site, we manufacture bulk bituminous emulsion products for use in carriageway surface dressing, as well as a range of specialist surfacing emulsion products for general highways surfacing works.

Our skilled teams comprise of production chemists and engineers, trade centre employees, delivery drivers and production operatives. We continually innovate to refine and develop our products portfolio – which includes bituminous road emulsions, bond coats, coated chippings and packaged bitumen products.

Each year, several thousand tonnes of bituminous materials pass through the facility and are distributed to clients across the UK. Our on-site trade centre is also open to trade organisations and the public, selling items such as packaged emulsions, roofing felts, sealants, tools and PPE.

Specialist fleet

Our 50+ strong fleet of specialist surface treatment vehicles include conveyor floor non-tipping lorries, low-entry cab road emulsion sprayers, new generation aggregate spreaders, combination surface dressing machines with jet patching capabilities, rollers and mobile emulsion storage tanks.

We continue to grow our fleet and challenge the status quo by collaborating on new, innovative models that improve health, safety and efficiency performance.

Traffic management design and delivery

We provide temporary traffic management services, traffic management drawings. We’re home to a dedicated team of CAD designers, temporary traffic management coordinators and permitters that support schemes nation-wide, operating out of our core locations to provide a safe, seamless experience for our people, road users and the communities we work.

Contracting

We take care of the full lifecycle management of a wide range of surface treatment schemes, including its operational delivery – ensuring the same quality service run throughout our operations.
