Kier is responding to concerns about the environment and climate change with several associated initiatives including the establishment of the Kier Group Energy Committee, KEEP (Kier Employee Environmental Pledge) and Smartwaste which measures the volume of waste generated for each project to improve resource efficiency.

Kier continues to focus on getting back to basics to ensure that we create and maintain safe sites. Our Accident Incidence Rate (AIR) compares favourably with the Health & Safety Executive (HSE) benchmark and we have been at the forefront in the drive to raise standards of supervision within the construction industry.

Considerate Constructors Scheme

The Considerate Constructors Scheme (CCS) has, since the Group became an Associate Member in 2008, been an invaluable tool in gauging how all Kier operating companies are performing within local communities. This past year Kier companies were awarded 21 National CCS Awards, including three gold and ten silver Awards.
