Since February 2016, Kier have worked on over £50m of projects at London Gatwick including the multi-storey car park 6 (MSCP 6) refurbishment, out of gauge (OOG) baggage, airline moves including relocating BA and VAA, TUI engineering project, Easyjet engineering offices and a significant upgrade to the security facility at Jubilee House.
These projects often involve working in both airside and landside areas in a live operating environment. Kier worked closely with a range of stakeholders, to ensure that all logistics, programme management, safety, quality and commercial aspects were delivered in accordance with stringent airport environmental standards with minimal disruption to the airport.
The success of these projects centred around working collaboratively with the client, consultants, security departments, airlines and other key stakeholders as one team to ensure challenges, issues and obstacles were resolved quickly.
Understanding and delivering what the client wanted was essential, therefore early engagement with stakeholders was essential. Kier was involved with early contractor involvement (ECI) design, design and build and led the RIBA process providing GAL with expert advice on buildability, value engineering opportunities and efficiencies.

Our delivery of the multi-storey car park at Gatwick was credited as a significant achievement by our client. Through the quality of work and our collaborative methods we were awarded additional projects.
Our airline moves, switching Virgin Atlantic Airlines and British Airways from South to North terminals respectively, was meticulously planned before being undertaken in a 24-hour period, eliminating disruption to great success.

The Luton DART project is a joint venture project between VolkerFitzpatrick and Kier (VFK). This new state-of-the-art guided mass passenger transit system will link the airport terminal building to Luton Airport Parkway station.
