Stephen Perse Foundation
< Back
The Challenge:
The Stephen Perse foundation had a requirement to extend their existing facilities. Undertaken by Kier, the project would involve the design and build of a new teach unit.
The new build would comprise of a new sports hall, including: changing facilities, viewing galleries, teaching space with terraces and an external MUGA sports pitch located at roof-level. The main structure of the new build will be of Cross Laminated Timber (CLT) construction.

The Solution:
We worked closely with the school, who were heavily involved in the design of the building and the students were actively engaged to help design certain elements.
The new sports hall was constructed within the boundary of the senior school site of The Stephen Perse Foundation. Due to the proximity of the existing school and residential area the basement to house, the new sports hall is was constructed using a silently driven sheet pile system.

The Impact:
The new sports hall and teaching facilities were delivered on time and ready for the start of the 2017 academic year.
An innovative approach was taken to the design and construction of the MUGA pitch, which was constructed on a cross Cross Laminated Timber structure. The facilities are now enjoyed by the students.
