The Challenge:

KVF35 aims to operate a transparent procurement strategy to attract local SMEs to enable them to support the local economy and leave a lasting legacy by creating a positive impact.

The Solution:

On 17th April 2019, KVF35 arranged, in conjunction with West Suffolk Council, West Suffolk College, New Anglia Local Enterprise Partnership and the Suffolk Chamber of Commerce; for a ‘Meet the Buyer’ style event to be ran, inviting local suppliers and sub-contractors.

The event supports KVF35 and their suppliers to meet the aim of the venture to create new jobs and procure at least 30% of the supply chain within a 75 Mile radius of the site. The event will allow SMEs to learn about the work packages available on the project. And to better understand the procurement process if they are not an existing. The event will also allow existing supply chain members the ability to promote their opportunities to work with SMEs and help them grow and develop their workforce.

The Impact:

Around 16 suppliers attended the KVF35 “Meet the Buyer” Event. Businesses in and around Suffolk attended the event to see how they could benefit from the contract.

Numbers attending surpassed expectations with 133 people signing in on the day, varying from local tradespeople to small and medium sized businesses such as plumbers, recycling services, plant hire, office equipment and groundworks to name a few.

" Can we say a massive thank you to you all, for investing your time and providing what was a fundamentally amazing event; the feedback from the attendees was all positive and they found it to be one of the most worthwhile events they have attended. "

" We found the event a great help. Not only to meet up in person with the buyers for the project at Lakenheath but also we made contact with a couple of the local business groups that were in attendance. As we are in the process of expanding our physical presence on the ground, we found that very useful. We will be following up with the contacts that we made as there are other opportunities within the area that we can be of assistance with via our contacts with NG Bailey. "
