Major Projects fast facts
Supporting UK growth
Building and infrastructure are hot topics, both in the UK and internationally. The UK Government has announced more than £460 billion of mixed public and private investment in infrastructure – 40% of funding will be from the public purse.
This new cashflow means projects which have been mothballed for years are now back on the cards alongside ambitious new schemes – in commercial, defence, health, rail, nuclear, flood defence, port and harbour development and large-scale urban regeneration.
To assist with the delivery of large programmes, Kier has a designated major projects team, bringing together sector leading experience to deliver complex buildings and infrastructure.
Our wealth of experience across some of the largest infrastructure projects in the UK gives us the unrivalled capacity to deliver the most complex and technically and financially challenging schemes. Our close relationship with our supply chain and the strength of our team, is something we’ve worked hard to cultivate and we draw on this to carefully match resources to projects.
Our extensive range of in-house capabilities, including design, development and project management means that our clients can enjoy the benefits of dealing with one strategic partner. We are also used to collaborating (we hold ISO 44001 for collaboration) through joint ventures, to help our clients benefit from shared financial exposure or to make full use of a particular specialist capability.
Many of Kier’s most prestigious building projects involve high-profile structures which when completed change the landscape of an entire area. Understanding the complexity involved in these most recognisable projects, our approach is to bring together a range of skills and capabilities from across our business to the highest possible build quality delivering complete, efficient and cost-effective package for our clients.
We have extensive experience of completing urban regeneration and heritage refurbishment, the construction of cutting-edge laboratories for world-leading universities, large scale public sector facilities for health trusts and our armed forces.
We have invested in the best technology, but this can only be used to full effect in the hand of our extremely loyal and committed teams, many of whom have been with us for years. So, the most important investment we make is in our people, their skills and above all their safety. Which is why they will then go above and beyond for our clients, sharing their specialist knowledge, sector leading experience and fresh thinking, so together we can create great things.
