This has enabled us to move into new markets such as student accommodation where we have developed schemes in Glasgow, Salford, Newcastle, Coventry and Southampton - complementing our long-established and still growing expertise in areas including office development, industrial, leisure and retail.
Our Urban Regeneration team continue to develop opportunities together with other existing mixed-use residential-led schemes and seeks to purchase new sites, focusing on large-scale regeneration master plans, ideally alongside joint venture partners.
Solum joint venture with Network Rail
A large amount of our mixed-use development is through joint venture partnerships. Solum, the Kier Property joint venture with Network Rail, was setup in 2008 to attract private investment into the rail network through the development of underutilised Network Rail land.
Our expert development teams unlock the potential of these sites to deliver mixed-use regeneration including much needed new homes close to transport hubs. The revenue generated from the sale of these homes is invested into the improvement of station facilities for the benefit of the travelling public.
Work is currently underway at Twickenham Station which will deliver 115 new homes and £8.5 million of station infrastructure investment, including a new landmark station building situated on a public plaza which will offer new retail facilities and improved access to platforms. Watford Riverwell joint venture
We are also the development partner for Watford Borough Council’s largest regeneration project taking place on 70 acres of brownfield land to the west of the town centre.
Work is underway on the £450 million regeneration named ‘Watford Riverwell’ which will deliver over 1,000 homes, new commercial and retail uses, a new riverside park, community uses including a new school, better transport links and new hospital facilities. The diverse range of properties for which we are strategic asset managers is expanding rapidly with the growing numbers of public and private sector schemes, properties and portfolios that we have across the UK.
Kier Design and Business Services working in partnership with the London Borough of Hackney to deliver mixed-use developments and education schemes to create revenue for further local investment.
The Fulmar is part of the Greenwich Peninsula Regeneration Scheme, consisting of three residential blocks, comprising 139 flats, surrounding a central landscaped podium courtyard. The blocks range in height from four to 10 storeys, housing 60 apartments for outright sale, 19 for intermediate (shared ownership) and 60 for rent properties.
The Aperture is the first phase of residential buildings on the Greenwich Peninsula. This five storey building comprises of a restaurant and deli on the ground floor, day nursery on the first floor, estate management and a community centre on the second/third floors with a gym on the remaining floors.
