Kier has been appointed by the Department for Education (DfE) to redevelop Northolt High School, located in in the heart of Northolt, West London (Islip Manor High School from 1st September 2025). The senior school will serve a total of 1100 students, including 900 11-16 year olds, 200 sixth form students and 30 Pupil Additional Resource Provision. The school’s main focus is STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics).

The project will be split into 2 phases. 

Phase 1 will include the demolition of the old Eliots block and construction of the new senior school, whilst maintaining the existing school and community access to the existing sports hall, courts and playing fields. 

Phase 2 works consists of the demolition of the remaining part of the old school which will be replaced by extended playing fields, an outdoor gym, a MUGA sports court and an amphitheatre. 

The new 8400 sq m senior school will be BREEAM 'Excellent' and Net Zero in operation. 

The building will be constructed of a steel frame structure with the envelope made up of brickwork and rainscreen cladding with a mixture of windows and curtailing walling for natural light. The 600 sq m roof area will be a wild flower green roof for attracting birds and insects. 

Renewable energy is at the heart of the school with 450 photo voltaic panels and a ground source heat pump providing heating in the winter and passive cooling in the summer. 

The building will not only serve as a local senior school but will be available to the local community outside of school ours promoting community to use the following facilities;

  • Dining 
  • Music 

During the construction phase we will be working with local colleges and the council to provide local job, apprenticeships and T Level opportunities.

We will send out regular newsletters to keep you up to date on the latest news, site activity and progress of the build. We will deliver these to your home and they will also be available on this web page by clicking on the links provided. 

Supporting the community 

We want to make sure that everyone can have their say throughout the construction phase. By listening to your feedback and acting on it we can continually improve how we involve the local community. 

We will organise events and other activities, such as school and site visits, to raise awareness about this new project and to help create job placement, work experience and training opportunities. 

Kier also has a policy to use local suppliers and workers where possible.
