What we are doing

About the new development: The Forum phase two site is located in the centre of Gloucester, directly behind the new Transport Hub. It was previously occupied by an old car park and office complex, as well and some small retail units. Some were demolished in 2019 with the one remaining building, Grosvenor House, being demolished as part of this project.

More than 125,000 sq ft of office space will be developed, sitting along side a 131 bedroom four star hotel, a gym, restaurants, shops, bars and cathedral view apartments. There will also be a multi-storey car park, (404 no.) with over an acre of public realm and landscaping work. The project has a very sustainable focus and will be completed to high environmental standards.

The development is aimed at attracting digital companies with an international reach to the heart of Gloucester and is one of Gloucester's key projects. As part of Kier's commitment to Gloucester there will be a Learning Hub on site where members of the community, local groups and schools can engage with the regeneration of the city. At the Learning Hub people will be able to discover information about the project, the diverse roles within the construction industry and gain access and signposting to employment and wellbeing resources and support services.

Total investment cost: £73.5m

Completion date: 29 September 2024

Supporting your local community

As with all projects, Kier are committed to supporting local communities by investing in future skills and employment training, working with local small and medium-sized enterprises and contributing to good causes. Kier regularly communicate with the wider community, keeping them updated, engaged and making sure any additional needs are supported.

Together with Gloucester City Council, Kier's social purpose is to tackle inequality by giving individuals and communities the tools and opportunities to create brighter futures. Our pledge to Gloucester is to ensure that the effects of the Forum phase two investment are sustainable, positive and inclusive and contribute to enhancement of the long term social, economic and environmental wellbeing of Gloucester and it’s residents.

On site Learning Hub

The on site Learning Hub will be a resource for the public, individuals, groups, schools and colleges to discover what is being built and how, learn about different roles within the construction industry and to access training, career development and wellbeing support, in partnership with many established and growing local social enterprises.

We will also be advertising the job opportunities created by the scheme, encouraging local residents to apply and providing support where needed. The project will offer a high number of apprenticeships, internships and work experience opportunities which are a successful access route into the construction industry.

Sustainably built

As part of Kier's commitment to building a sustainable future, we will be implementing a wide range of technologies across The Forum to ensure it has a minimal impact on the environment.

This includes rainwater collection tanks, a brown roof to provide habitat for wildlife, PV panelling, external vertical slender fins on exterior of windows to provide natural solar shading, reverse cycle heat pumps with variable refrigerant flow for low carbon when heating & cooling.
