Kier has been appointed to the Southern Construction Framework’s (SCF) £4.5bn Construction Framework. This is the fifth generation of the framework and Kier has been a contractor on the framework for 16 years.

The new framework will launch in May 2023, spanning the next four years with it providing procurement routes for public sector buildings, including educational, healthcare and leisure facilities.

Kier has been appointed to all five Lots below, which includes new £1-5m value lots for the South West region.

High-value bands (projects worth £4m+): Lot 1 South West, Lot 2 South East, Lot 3 London

Sub £5m band (projects worth £1m-£5m): Lot 4 South West (West Region), Lot 5 South West (East Region)

SCF selected contractors that can demonstrate exemplary carbon benchmarking assessment for all builds and has prioritised carbon retrofit capabilities.

Kier has completed over 60 projects through the framework worth over £530m. This has included public buildings in the South East, London and the South West, including St Sidwell’s Point, the UK’s first Passivhaus Leisure Centre. Completed in April 2022, the state-of-the-art leisure centre was modelled to withstand predicted changes in climate conditions up to 2080.

SCF has operated under evolving identities since 2006 and was the first regional framework for construction in local government.

"The relationship we have with SCF is one that we are extremely proud of, having delivered vital projects under this framework over the past 16 years.

We are thrilled to have the opportunity to continue this relationship, using our regional teams and supply chain partners to deliver outstanding projects which benefit local communities"

Stuart Togwell Group Managing Director at Kier Construction

Kingsley Clarke and Adam Sanford, SCF operations leads, said: “We are pleased to be able to continue our long-standing partnership with Kier in this latest generation of SCF. Our clients value the ability of Kier to deliver against tough carbon credentials and most notably this was achieved on the completion of the UK’s first Passivhaus Leisure Centre, St Sidwell’s Point. This is in addition to providing demonstrable value for money across projects they are engaged with.

“As a framework we are very demanding on our contractor partners with requirements to contribute to a range of industry leading working group initiatives and it is gratifying to see that Kier continue to hold SCF in high regard and work with us in our shared objectives to improve the construction industry for all.”
