Kier has been appointed to British Airways’ brand-new Tier 1 contractor framework, which supports BA’s Property Team deliver its multi-million-pound BA Better Buildings programme.

The framework is initially for a 3-year period, with the option to extend by an additional 2 years. It is primarily focused on British Airways’ extensive asset portfolio at Heathrow, with the potential to deliver at other key locations across the UK.

The scope of work could include:

  • Improvement works at LHR Operations East and West bases, including aircraft stand refurbishments, such as lighting upgrades, road improvements, drainage & remedial works.
  • Hangar conversions, including reconfigurations of aircraft docking structures, power, and infrastructure to accommodate new types of aircraft.
  • Nose in Facility and docking facility upgrades.
  • Associated infrastructure upgrades to the individual Technical Blocks, including glazing and cladding replacement.
  • Cargo buildings, including roof, glazing & cladding upgrades.

It is aimed at supporting the British Airways property team in its delivery of its Better Buildings programme, which is designed to:

  • Create fit for purpose and inspirational working environments
  • Provide improved building resilience to support operations
  • Develop a safe, sustainable and energy efficient estate
  • Support other BA corporate initiatives, including entry into service for new aircraft types arriving from 2028/29
