Kier has raised over £250,000 in donations over the past two years for its corporate charity partner, Trussell.

The partnership, which ends this month as the Group starts a new two-year charity partnership, also delivered £115,000 in further support.

Donations and fundraising, volunteering carried out by Kier employees and pro-bono support to support improvements at food banks in the Trussell community, were the three focuses of Kier’s support.

The Group’s fundraising efforts included its annual Moving through May campaign, which encourages all colleagues to get active in the month of May and raise funds for Trussell and other local charities.

Pro-bono work carried out included building a new kitchen and storage space for Taunton Foodbank, providing and fitting out new premises for Causeway Foodbank in Northern Ireland, helping several food banks to move to new premises, including Epping Forest and Hackney food banks, and donating office furniture.

Kier people have also contributed over 200 volunteering days over the course of the partnership, delivered through the company’s volunteering days scheme, which allows each colleague up to two days paid leave for volunteering each year.

Trussell was chosen by Kier’s employees as its new charity partner in 2023 after an all-employee vote. Following another vote held in recent weeks, Kier will soon announce its new charity partner for the next two years.

"Thank you to Trussell and our partnership team – working with you over the last two years has been a true privilege. Your unwavering dedication to tackling hunger and hardship has inspired us all. You’ve not only welcomed us into your mission but empowered us to be part of something bigger than ourselves.

I’d also like to thank everyone at Kier and across our supply chain who have supported our relationship with Trussell and helped us to deliver some fantastic results."

"Partnerships like ours with Kier are essential to Trussell’s mission. They bring not only financial support, but also skills, time, and advocacy. They help build stronger, more resilient communities, and move us closer to a future where no one needs a food bank.

Kier have brought not only their professional expertise and skill, but also compassion and care, to their support of food banks. We are grateful to them and hope to work with them again in the future."
