Kier has bolstered its healthcare team with three new appointments to support its growing portfolio and the needs of its customers. Rebecca Garcia is appointed to the position of alliance director, Bonnie Chu as alliance design director, and Rachel Anderson as social value lead, enhancing the Group’s expansive national offer, with a focus on the healthcare sector.

Rebecca and Bonnie’s roles will focus on driving Kier’s alliancing capability both across the board and including major and acute hospital projects, bringing with them a wealth of experience across healthcare as well as other sectors including education, justice and housing.

Rebecca has 18 years’ experience working in the public sector with government clients to form partnerships, drive collaboration and deliver a shared vision. She will ensure mutual project goals are achieved for customers across Kier’s large-scale infrastructure and capital projects.

A qualified architect, Bonnie joins Kier Construction with 20 years’ experience in the construction industry. In addition to her day-to-day role, Bonnie also sits on the Board of Governors at University College London Hospitals Foundation Trust and is a co-founder of Women in Healthcare Built Environment (WIHBE). At Kier, she will further define and drive the design vision across its alliance partnerships in healthcare.

Rachel brings over a decade of social value insight and expertise to her new role, which is positioned centrally supporting all sectors where Kier operates. She recently served as the social value lead on the pioneering National Rehabilitation Centre in Loughborough, achieving more than double targets set. Rachel will work alongside Kier’s regional social value teams to drive the integration of measurable and meaningful metrics into bids and projects, from concept through to legacy.

Spencer Baber, managing director of Kier Strategic Projects, said the new roles would be pivotal in supercharging the Group’s alliancing offer and approach in healthcare. He says: “We're excited to have Bonnie, Rebecca and Rachel onboard, bringing incredible value to our team and offer. Their combined knowledge, breadth of sector experience and passion for alliancing and social value will bring significant benefits to our customers and partners.

“We have a long-established track record demonstrating our successful approach to alliancing, especially within the justice and defence sectors, so having new skills and perspectives on board to boost this further is an compelling proposition.”

Kier brings a 360 approach to its alliance partnerships, providing end-to-end expertise and technical excellence across an asset’s lifecycle, from developing land, to in-house design and engineering capability, through to build, retrofit and operation.

In the justice sector, as part of the Alliance for New Prisons, Kier delivered the UK’s first all-electric prison HMP Millsike earlier this year, harnessing technical expertise covering mechanical and electrical, digital and design capability, from across the Group. At the University of Salford, experts from Kier’s utilities, design, rail and mechanical and electrical teams are collaborating to deliver a new technically complex £40.7m clinical health education building for students.
