We are trusted to deliver nuclear facilities across the UK. We design, build and maintain environments that meet today’s energy and safety demands while supporting and enabling innovations that will power the future of nuclear technology.

Nuclear energy
The government has made it clear that nuclear has an essential role to play in their mission to make Britain a clean energy superpower.
We are supporting this plan, which has cross-party support and includes large projects like Hinkley Point C (HPC) and the future Sizewell C, through our work in the nuclear energy sector.
Kier has been a trusted delivery partner on site at Hinkley Point C since 2012, as part of the KierBAM joint venture (KBJV).
Originally commissioned to undertake the major earthworks on site, our scope of works has grown significantly since, with client EDF Nuclear New Build (NNB) leveraging our comprehensive experience of delivering large scale, complex civil engineering projects in highly regulated nuclear environments.
Our works packages include the construction of roads and networks, ancillary buildings, a fish return system, and civil security fencing.
The energy race
The UK is investing in future energy technology, like nuclear fusion and advanced modular reactors, through significant research and development activity.
We manage feasibility studies for key clients in the nuclear sector.

Submarine value chain
The UK has a clear ambition to increase defence spending to 3% of Gross Domestic Product (GDP) by 2034.
As part of this ambition, the UK is building nuclear-powered submarines for defence, which in turn requires investment in critical infrastructure to build, maintain, and upgrade our submarine fleet.
Our KierBAM Joint Venture (KBJV) is working as part of Babcock’s Integrated Major Infrastructure Projects team at Devonport Royal Dockyard.
Delivered in a live operational environment on a licensed nuclear site, the projects we deliver - led by Babcock - form a critical component of the UK’s defence infrastructure, supporting the maintenance cycles of Astute Class nuclear-powered submarines and, ultimately, ensuring Royal Navy assets can be delivered safely back to sea.
Nuclear materials lifecycle management
As the use of nuclear energy grows, the UK will need more fuel and better ways to manage the nuclear materials lifecycle.
This includes partnerships to ensure that fuel production and materials storage are delivered safely.
At Sellafield we have recently constructed the Residue Store Retreatment Plant (SRP) Process Building and Services Building.
The SRP is one of the site’s most complex nuclear infrastructure projects and, once operational, will play a critical role in managing the country's plutonium stockpile.
