With UK airports at nearly 100% capacity, Heathrow getting the green light for its third runway and global passenger traffic set to double by 2050, all UK airports and the airlines that operate from them are under pressure to improve and increase their current facilities.
Kier has a dedicated aviation team working across the UK on projects from design and construction through to facilities management. Our breadth of services means that we are also able to offer multi-disciplinary service provision that includes utilities, surfacing and heavy infrastructure projects. Our work covers terminal design and build, aircraft hangars, runways, transport infrastructure, asset renewals, car parks, retail units, baggage handling systems, security areas, hotels and taxi services. We work both landside and airside and we are fully committed to the necessary security requirements of working in an airport environment.
We work with many of the biggest names in the industry including Bristol, Gatwick, Heathrow, Inverness, Luton, Manchester, Southend and Stansted.
Working across a number of frameworks, we have built up many long-standing relationships, with clients coming back to us again and again knowing we understand the unique nature of this sector and the logistical and security challenges it presents. Projects have to be carried out amid the day-to-day running of the airport, to strict standards and, in the case of airlines, with the risk of penalties and loss of reputation to all if not delivered within agreed timeframes.

The Luton DART project is a joint venture project between VolkerFitzpatrick and Kier (VFK). This new state-of-the-art guided mass passenger transit system will link the airport terminal building to Luton Airport Parkway station. Due to open in 2021 it will reduce journey time from the terminal to central London to under 30 minutes.
