Kier is progressing an £8.8m portfolio of 31 water and wastewater infrastructure contracts through Anglian Water’s Integrated Operational Solutions (IOS) Partnership.
The work includes investigations, design, enabling works and construction across Anglian Water’s region, supporting improvements to drinking water storage, water treatment and wastewater infrastructure.
The partnership’s five-year span covers AMP8, the water industry’s 2025–2030 investment period, supporting Anglian Water’s programme to maintain essential infrastructure, strengthen resilience and improve environmental performance.
Within this wider portfolio, construction is now under way on £4.8m of drinking water storage refurbishments at Horstead water tower and Leziate Reservoir in Norfolk.
At Horstead water tower, Kier has been awarded a £1.99m construction contract to refurbish the outer storage cell. The repairs and waterproofing will help protect the structure and support reliable drinking water supplies, with the inner cell planned to remain operational while the outer cell is unavailable.
At Leziate Reservoir, Kier has been awarded a £2.76m construction contract for refurbishment to address water ingress through the roof structure. The proposed solution includes roof repairs, waterproofing and drainage improvements to help protect treated water storage infrastructure and maintain the reservoir’s operational resilience. Work is being phased around one cell at a time to minimise disruption to water supplies.
Sarah Staunton, Operations Director at Kier:
Early involvement gives our teams time to understand the condition of each asset and work with Anglian Water to plan around the constraints of operational sites.
At Horstead and Leziate, that understanding is informing how we plan the construction work. Keeping operational colleagues involved throughout helps us identify risks and sequence improvements around maintaining essential services.
Melissa Reynard, IOS Delivery Director, said:
Kier is making positive progress across this diverse portfolio, combining early technical input with a strong focus on safe, efficient delivery. Their collaborative approach is helping us manage operational constraints, maintain momentum and deliver resilient infrastructure that supports better outcomes for our customers and the environment.
Kier Infrastructure’s wider work across the East of England includes Anglian Water’s Integrated Maintenance, Repair and Developer Services and Integrated Metering Alliance, alongside its appointment to Sizewell C’s Major Civils Framework. In Norfolk, Kier is delivering the county council’s £700m highways and infrastructure contract, which began in April 2026 and runs for up to 14 years.
