Real value and customer choice, enabled by advanced technology, standardised designs and proven scalable processes.
By embracing pioneering industrialisation techniques, Kier is helping customers deliver major public sector projects with greater certainty and quality, while reducing risk, simplifying delivery and improving productivity.
Our focus is simple. To help our customers create the infrastructure the UK needs faster, smarter and safer.
We combine standardised design, advanced technologies and repeatable processes to deliver infrastructure more efficiently, while still giving our customers the flexibility and choice we know they want.
As a leading UK contractor and trusted partner to UK government, we are at the forefront of reshaping how the UK funds, designs, builds and maintains its critical buildings and infrastructure.
Our standardised, programme-wide approach to industrialisation helps us continually improve how projects are delivered. Rather than treating offsite manufacturing as a one-off solution for individual projects, we apply lessons learned across entire programmes to improve efficiency, quality and certainty.
The Government’s transformational and ambitious £725bn 10-year Infrastructure Strategy champions the potential of industrialised construction. We are already delivering repeatable, scalable, smarter and more predictable infrastructure across the justice, healthcare, defence and education sectors.

Industrialisation across core infrastructure sectors
Our industrialised methods support capital delivery across multiple sectors:
Repeatable custodial design and programme-led delivery models including more than 30 innovative house blocks across UK prisons. This has delivered 15% improvement in programme consistency, 41% less waste, 15% fewer quality issues.
Platform-based solutions aligned to NHS requirements and future flexibility. Kier has been appointed to the Hospital 2.0 Alliance Framework, part of the New Hospital Programme (NHP), the greatest single investment programme in NHS infrastructure in recent decades.
The NHP is a joint endeavour between the Department of Health and Social Care and NHS England, and will deliver a new standardised, programmatic approach to designing and building new hospitals – Hospital 2.0. (LINK to release)
In the public sector, our innovative kSchool standardised, performance-led design, ensures every project meets the latest Department for Education (DfE) standards - delivering cost-effective and future-ready buildings. kSchool enables the consistent delivery of the government’s aspiration of safe, sustainable, suitable, sufficiently sized, and resilient educational environments.
Secure, programmatic infrastructure delivery including 19 Single Living Accommodation blocks based on the same kSLA Platform design
Examples include the HS2 Project, where the 880m Thame Valley Viaduct was manufactured almost entirely offsite, with pre-fabricated sections delivered by road and assembled in-situ. This approach reduced embedded carbon, simplified construction, cut waste and improved safety on site. Further benefits were achieved when the strategy was repeated to design and build the Edgcote Viaduct 25 miles along the new high-speed route, which was also being delivered by our EKFB joint venture.
Our industrialisation approach allows us to achieve higher quality finishes and facades as well as delivering low-carbon and sustainability benefits for modern work environments that support long-term business success. We combine smart design, repeatable modern methods of construction and efficient delivery to provide clients with greater certainty and improved productivity. Some examples include Network W1, The Fitzrovia, Haleon Global Oral Innovation Hub, Bush House South West Wing and King’s Cross P2.

Frequently Asked Questions
Industrialised Construction refers to the application of standard, repeatable manufacturing and assembly processes to the delivery of building and infrastructure projects.
Kier’s approach applies structured, repeatable processes, production and components - as well as platform-based design, MMC and an integrated specialist supply chains - to create predictable, high-quality and efficient outcomes while ensuring customer choice and flexibility.
Through consistent processes, early design certainty, reduced site-based labour, and stronger supply chain integration, we help customers derisk programmes and stabilise cost, schedule and performance.
By minimising site-based fabrication and increasing controlled manufacturing processes, safety is enhanced and quality becomes more consistent and measurable across all projects.
No - our approach prioritises customer choice. Platform-based design gives a reliable foundation. Whether publicly funded or delivered through PPP, our programme-first model ensures flexibility within a robust, proven system.
