Kier has appointed Steve Lynn as regional director for its Construction business' Northern region, responsible for leading operations across Yorkshire and the North East.
With more than 25 years' experience in the construction industry, spending the majority of his career at Kier, Steve takes up the role having most recently served as operations director for the North East. He succeeds Dan Doherty, who retired after more than five years with Kier, during which he played an important role in strengthening Kier Construction’s presence in the region and supporting its continued growth.
Steve joined Kier as a site manager and has progressed through a series of leadership positions including project manager, contracts manager, operations manager and operations director. Throughout his career, he has contributed to the successful delivery of projects across the education, healthcare, defence, commercial and regeneration sectors, while building strong relationships with customers, partners and supply chain businesses across the North East.
In recent years, Steve has played a key role in the delivery of several landmark projects in the North East. This includes Sunderland Eye Hospital, one of the UK's most advanced specialist eye care facilities, and the restoration and transformation of the award-winning, Grade II-listed archives and exhibition centre, The Story in County Durham. He has also helped strengthen Kier's position across the North East region, supporting growth in both new and existing customer relationships.
In his new role, Steve will lead Kier Construction’s Northern operations as it continues to deliver projects across key public and private sector markets throughout Yorkshire and the North East.

His commitment to leadership and people development was recognised at Kier’s annual staff awards in 2024 when he received the Role Model award.
