Optivo Housing Association contracted us to retrofit a fire sprinkler system into 62 flats and communal spaces in a three-story newly built residential home in Kent.
Optivo wanted the system to be installed quickly before residents moved in and without any obvious change to the décor of the brand-new properties.
We advised Optivo to install a British standard iMist system rather than a wet system as this could be fitted more efficiently and cost effectively and would take up less space in the plant room with only four small pumps required.
We demonstrated how this system could be installed in a fully-decorated show flat requiring only minimal making-good. Optivo were pleased with our approach, and the twelve- week installation programme began.
We carefully cut through ceilings to install the sprinkler fittings so there were minimal repairs needed. We left properties exactly as they were before installation, with no evidence of works being undertaken.
The installation went smoothly, and we were able to complete three flats per day. The new sprinkler system was installed within seven weeks and the hand over was completed six weeks ahead of schedule. It now means that the client can implement a stay put policy for the wellbeing of vulnerable residents.
" I feel the works went really well. I had certainly assumed far more mess and disruption during the installation phase. The works were completed ahead of schedule which was pleasing. Having Simon on site was extremely useful and he is always very approachable and helpful. The contractors are polite and accommodating. Having completed viewings, people are extremely impressed and comment on how neatly the ceilings are finished. It’s impossible to see where Kier have been and this is exactly what we needed. I’m hopeful the next installation at Atlas Place will be just as successful. "Project Manager Optivo
