Trade City Manchester is an example of Kier’s delivery of buildings and infrastructure that support a climate transition.
Kier aims to reduce the climate impact of our own operations, as well as delivery buildings and infrastructure that are net zero in operation and resilient to the world’s changing climate. At Trade City Manchester, we are delivering on this aim.
Forming part of the established Cheetham Hill Industrial area, Trade City Manchester provides Grade A industrial and trade space to businesses and the community: nine new trade and industrial units are providing 94,000 sq. ft. of space.
This Kier Property development is regenerating a derelict and formerly contaminated brownfield brick works and scrap yard with a new employment scheme providing high levels of sustainability, including a BREEAM excellent rating and an ‘A’ Energy Performance Certificate. Solar panels, renewable technology and energy efficient lighting, as well as electric vehicle charging and bicycle storage, are part of the design to encourage climate-friendly energy consumption and travel habits at the facility.
Additionally, the site supports nature and adapts to our changing climate with the creation of a rain garden to capture water during extreme weather.
