Kier, a leading infrastructure, construction and property group, has committed to engage and inspire at least 2,000 additional young people over the next three years through activities linked to the government’s Youth Guarantee.

The commitment, designed to actively reduce the number of young people who are not in Education, employment or training (NEET), will include engaging with young people via the company’s Kierriculum programme, offering work experience placements for young people to move into the sector and upskilling young people through skills bootcamps.

It will also see increased engagement with Youth Hubs to provide information on routes to employment and employability skills, offering designated jobs guarantee placements with clear routes to apprenticeships, and creating new apprenticeship opportunities which include roles in digital and AI.

Kier will also be using its strong supply chain relationships across the country to actively increase engagement with the activities and provide more support and expertise to help young people find a route to careers which are right for them.

Stuart Togwell, CEO at Kier Group, said:

Attracting young people into Kier and into our industry is essential to building a sustainable future. The construction and infrastructure sector needs fresh perspectives, digital capability and new skills, and young people bring all of that and more. By offering high quality early careers routes, meaningful work experience and long term opportunities, we’re not only strengthening our business, but helping to widen access to good jobs. That’s why we strongly support the Government’s Youth Guarantee – it aligns with our commitment to ensuring every young person has the chance to gain skills, confidence and a foothold in a rewarding career.
