Kier has secured a place on the NHS Shared Business Services (NHS SBS) Hard Facilities Management 3 Framework, strengthening its ability to support NHS organisations and other public sector customers with the management, maintenance and improvement of their estates.

Kier Places, Kier’s specialist facilities management, housing maintenance and capital building projects business, has been appointed to Lot 11.1 for Hard Facilities Management Managed Services across both geographical areas covered by the framework: London and the South East, and the Rest of the UK.

The framework, with a total value of £400m across all Lots, will provide NHS trusts and other approved public sector bodies with a compliant route to procure a range of facilities management services, including:

  • Mechanical, electrical and plumbing services

  • Building fabric maintenance

  • Fire and security systems

  • Lifts, water hygiene, Legionella and asbestos services

  • Energy and sustainability support

  • Consumables and associated hard facilities management services

Through its Workplace Solutions team, Kier Places will support customers in maintaining safe, compliant and high-performing healthcare environments, drawing on its experience of delivering facilities management services across complex, operational and occupied estates, including a number of PFI contracts for healthcare facilities across the UK.

The framework has an initial term of two years, with the option to extend for a further two years.

The appointment follows Kier’s recent appointment to the Government Commercial Agency’s RM6378 Facilities Management and Security Services framework, where Kier Places was named as a supplier across the available Total Facilities Management and Hard Facilities Management lots.

Dan Andrews, director of Kier Places Workplace Solutions, said:

Healthcare organisations are managing increasingly complex estates while facing significant pressure to maintain safe, compliant and efficient environments for patients, staff and visitors. Being named as a supplier on this framework is an important milestone for Kier Places and strengthens our route into the healthcare facilities management market. It provides NHS organisations and other public sector customers access to our hard facilities management capability through an established procurement route. We look forward to working with customers to improve building performance, protect the long-term value of their assets and support the delivery of vital public services.

Olivia Mallett, Principal Category Manager for NHS SBS, said:

Hard Facilities Management 3 (Hard FM3) has been designed to meet the evolving needs of NHS and wider public sector organisations by providing a compliant, flexible, and efficient route to market, by enabling customers to access specialist Hard FM services quickly while achieving value for money. We are proud to offer a framework that not only supports statutory compliance and estate resilience but also encourages innovation, sustainability, and long-term improvements across the NHS and wider public sector estate.

The appointment builds on Kier Places' extensive track record across the public sector, including services provided for the Government Property Agency, Home Office and Ministry of Justice estates, alongside local authority contracts and long-term private finance initiative (PFI) partnerships throughout the country.
