Working in a live environment

The 23-bed Treatment Centre provides outpatient, diagnostic services, day procedures, and minor operations. Our essential facilities management solutions help maintain a clinical environment without disrupting daily activity. Drawing on more than 20 years of Private Finance Initiative (PFI) experience, Kier Places ensures the facility remains operational, compliant and patient-focused.

We provide hard facilities management, portering, and domestic services for Prospect Healthcare at Hinchingbrooke Treatment Centre including mechanical and electrical maintenance, reactive works, cleaning and waste maintenance, and compliance testing.

By working collaboratively with clinical staff and the Trust’s estates team, we can adapt quickly to evolving models of patient care and treatment, always ensuring continuity of service.

Enhancing patient experience

The end-user experience is core to the delivery of this long-term contract. We work closely with Prospect Healthcare and the NHS Trust to understand their requirements and ensure services are aligned with patient and stakeholder needs. Our ongoing commitment to delivering the best patient experience is reflected in the use of our six-monthly customer satisfaction surveys which measure performance and identify opportunities to enhance patient experience.

Driving innovation, enabling efficiency

In a dynamic healthcare environment, continuous innovation is essential to meet the evolving needs of patients and hospital staff.

To support this, we have worked in collaboration with the client to hold innovation workshops, focused on reducing operational costs and optimising energy use. As a result of one of the workshops, we collaboratively identified modifications to theatres 1-8 and endoscopy suites 1-3 to reduce energy consumption. It was highlighted that when theatres were unoccupied during the day, a large amount of energy was used keeping theatres at operating temperature. While keeping in-line with contractual and Health Technical Memorandum (HTM) requirements, we were able to modify the theatres to reduce their energy consumption whilst not in use.

Our main contractual priority is to ensure that this important public facility is maintained and returned to the Trust as per contractual agreements. This is matched by our wider mission to ensure operational excellence, minimal disruption, and enhancing the patient and employee experience.

In July 2026, Kier was appointed to deliver the redevelopment of Hinchingbrooke Hospital.
