Kier in Northern Ireland
Kier’s lineage in Northern Ireland goes back more than 40 years through the acquisition of McNicholas in 2017. We are a leading provider of services to the UK’s multi-utility telecommunications, gas, power, water, renewable energy, and rail sectors.
Our operational presence in Northern Ireland further supports meaningful impact on the NI economy and wider social issues through activities such as training and employment. As we continue to expand so does our corporate responsibility footprint. As a responsible business, we believe that we should contribute by keeping the world around us working and operating safely. We collaborate to solve problems , share knowledge and find solutions.

Creating social impact
Alongside our projects, we give back to the people and communities who live and work alongside us. Kier & firmus energy are continuously developing new strategies and initiatives to help reduce plastic pollution and use. One such initiative included a collaborative beach clean along the Antrim coast in September 2019 which had a great turn out from both Kier and firmus energy.
For our River Foyle project, we were committed to supporting the local community. Following the successful completion of the project, a commemorative 2019 calendar was created. The sales of the calendar amounted to £1250 and all proceeds were donated to the Foyle Hospice which is situated by the River Foyle and provides palliative and end-of-life care for patients suffering from cancer and various other life-limiting illnesses.
